How Do I Keep My Boss From Invading My ME Time?

On What’s Your Work Fit we pose this viewer question: How Do I Keep My Boss From Invading My ME Time?

Our guest is Geoff Woliner.

Geoff is the executive producer and host of the entertaining 40 Going on 4 live show on LinkedIn. He is also an author, motivational speaker, and consultant who leverages humor for organizational team-building.

This week’s lead question was posed by What’s Your Work Fit? viewer Helen:

Helen is a marketing operations manager at a hospitality company. Helen’s work can be very intense, she says “it’s like juggling axe handles and bowling balls.” She is good at her job and, to make sure things don’t go BOOM, she’s built redundancies into her work, with dependable people and processes, that ensure excellent quality control.

Helen manages her day well and strives to make work a wonderful part of a day doing other wonderful things, a work fit.

But Helen’s boss knows no boundaries. He’s made her cancel dentist visits and hair appointments, and worse, she had to miss her kid’s first swim practice. Helen is frustrated, especially since she’s already cancelled two hair appointments on short notice. Her stylist says she’ll fire Helen as a client after a third cancellation.

Helen likes her job, but in frustration she asks: How do I keep my boss from invading my ME time?

During this information packed episode, Geoff also answers “what’s your work fit?’ His personal vision surely will resonate with many career professionals.
